Dear Faithful People of Christ the King Church:

Rejoice and be glad!  The long-awaited new chillers for the air conditioning system at our Rice Village campus will be installed this week!  For this to happen, our Rice Village campus will be closed beginning Wednesday evening, June 14, at 5:00 p.m., and all day on Thursday, June 15.  All in-person and hybrid (in-person and zoom) activities and meetings scheduled for Friday, June 16, including the 10:00 a.m. Bible Study and Knitters group will occur at our Rice Village campus as scheduled. By Friday, we will be back to normal.  (You may wish to shout “Alleluia!” here.)

This installation is happening almost exactly one year since the initial air conditioning breakdown. Why? “Supply chain issues.” It’s worth noting that many of the components of our new American-made chillers come from other nations, including Ukraine.

Since I’m writing, there are four other matters worth noting:

  1. There will be another congregational lunch immediately after the 11:00 a.m. service this Sunday, June 18.
  2. We will bless our beautifully restored Memorial Garden and thank God for the work of Elizabeth Kragas, Vicki Gorman, Santiago Callejas, and Tor Kragas at the conclusion of the 11:00 a.m. service on June 25.
  3. Deacon Ben Remmert will be on a well-deserved sabbatical leave July through September. We will send him on his way at the 11:00 a.m. service on July 2.
  4. Repair work in the courtyard of our Rice Village campus and exterior and interior work on our parsonage in preparation for the arrival of the Hope-Tringali family are also scheduled for June and July.

Peace and Joy --- and Courage!
