Greetings Christ the King Community,
This past week, Nathaniel, Peter, Elliot, Emily, Elena, Kayla, Hannah, Grace, Martina, Johnny, and I were in Guatemala from June 14 and we returned this past Sunday. We were immersed in Guatemalan culture, and we were invited to be compañeros (co-workers, companions, dedicated friends), building relationships with all those that we met through Hope Academy and Hogar Orphanage. This past week, we were able to increase our language and cultural capacity of the community in Guatemala, build relationships with old and new friend, witness injustice and lack of equality, dive into radical hospitality, and finally had time for personal reflection and noticing where God is calling us to be.
So now our participants will rest and have time to process all they experienced this past week and you will all have an opportunity in September to hear from our participants in-person (and online) to hear how their experience has influenced their lives. Below you will find our participants reflections while in Guatemala. I speak as one of many from our group how appreciative we are from all of you, our church family, that had helped us in our fundraising efforts, support of activities, and prayers for our youth. It was such a blast to accompany our youth in this chapter of their faith journey and looking forward to sharing more stories with you all in person.
God Bless friends,
Ben Remmert
Deacon of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry
