As FIFA World Cup 2026 excitement builds in Houston, Rice University is extending its role as an official host city supporter by bringing the global tournament directly to campus through a series of watch parties for students, faculty, staff and friends of the university.
Building on Rice’s partnership with the Houston World Cup 2026 Host Committee, the gatherings aim to create a shared, high-energy environment where fans can experience matches together while celebrating Houston’s place on the world stage.
The watch parties will take place at multiple campus locations, including Valhalla and the Ion District, offering food, drinks and opportunities for fans to connect around some of the tournament’s most anticipated matchups.
Each event will feature a festive, communal atmosphere aligned with the international spirit of the World Cup.
Houston is one of 16 host cities for the tournament, which will be held across the United States, Mexico and Canada. FIFA World Cup 2026 will be the largest sporting event ever, spanning 48 teams and 104 matches across North America.
With thousands of visitors expected to travel to Houston for matches, the campus watch parties offer an inclusive and accessible way for the Rice community to take part in the excitement, whether following their home countries or simply enjoying the world’s most popular sport alongside fellow fans.
