Dear faithful People of Christ the King Lutheran Church:

The Congregation Council met on August 11, 2026. President Martina Longoria chaired the meeting which included among other business:

  • A presentation by Michael Sheffield, Property Maintenance Supervisor, about the recently completed, identified and planned work at the Rice Village and Memorial Drive campuses;
  • Approval of the 2026 Stewardship Campaign Plan - For the joy before us;
  • Accepted a report from the Designated/Restricted Funds Task Force;
  • Approval of an Archival & Records Retention Policy; and 
  • Approval of temporary signage for the newly named Memorial Drive campus to “Memorial Drive Lutheran Center, a ministry of Christ the King Lutheran Church”

Interim Pastor Derr announced the following re-organization of communications responsibilities:

  • Diego Amezcua, Congregational Communications Administrator, responsible for all bulletins and “This Week,” as well as, Grace Notes, Advocacy and Action, and Worship and Announcements weekly emails, and other occasional responsibilities.
  • Nicholas Ozden, Media Manager, responsible for all livestreams on Sundays, Christmas liturgies, Holy Week liturgies, Advent and Lent Vespers, as well as all social media (website, FaceBook, etc.).

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Congregation Council is Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
