Food as a Gift - Our Service to Each Other

Knock-Knock – Who’s there?

The CtK Meals Team!!!

Did you know that for over forty years a group of dedicated CtK volunteers has been regularly preparing and delivering meals to members in need? The Meals Team brings food to members who are ill, mourning the loss of loved one, welcoming a child, or are experiencing a new situation in which they would appreciate some extra care from their CtK siblings. The Team also prepares food for memorial service receptions, working the pastors and family members to honor loved ones.

In these days of Door Dash, Uber Eats, and grocery delivery, and in a congregation with abundant resources, it’s hard to imagine anyone going hungry because of a change in their circumstances. The secret is that “It’s not about the food!” That dish of lasagna, pot of stew, or bowl of salad may be yummy, but what really counts is the smile that is delivered with the meal.  Offering meals is an act of love, compassion, and hospitality. Providing these gifts is a way to put our faith into tangible, loving action. It’s an opportunity to serve Christ himself, following the model of Jesus and the early church, who provided for the vulnerable and needy.
