A collection of Sew Loved Quilts will be in the nave at the October 18-19. Sew Loved Quilters formed in February 2023 with the help of grants from the CTK Foundation and Thrivent, as well as personal donations of in-kind materials and a phenomenal treasure trove of donated fabric. Some of the quilters are very experienced; others have never before put together a quilt. The quilts are machine quilted or tied, not hand quilted like the archival quality quilts that Piecemakers create each year.  Each quilt will be given to someone facing difficult life challenges, including people undergoing medical treatment or entering care homes, those grieving losses, domestic abuse victims, and survivors of natural disasters. The group has gifted over 100 quilts since forming, including eight we’ve distributed this year.

If you think you might like to learn how to make a quilt or help someone else to do so or if you just want more information, please contact Gretchen Miertschin, gnmier@swbell.net. We usually have at least three luncheon/work parties a year. There’s always a job for everyone who wants to participate—ironing, pinning, sewing, or simply cheering on the process with lots of ohhhh's and ahhh's. During the rest of the year we work on our own or with a friend with fabric we choose from the donations. And show and tell is a special part of each luncheon. We are a very casually organized group that has become a tight-knit, welcoming community as we reach out to others with the gifts we have been given.
