Kim Williams said the best part of a recent day volunteering at Freewheels Houston was helping four veterans get bikes, helmets and locks. “They were appreciative, yet fragile. I felt like we showed them love and care. It did my heart good! I really like the bike distribution job.”
Freewheels, which was launched in the Christ the King Church parking lot 10 years ago, is the recipient of the congregation’s August Mission Offering. Your support will enable Freewheels to continue to clean and repair bikes that are distributed to refugees, veterans and young people from low-income families. So far this year, we have provided bikes to more than 400 people.
We welcome all who want to volunteer at Freewheels. Whether you know bike repair or you just want to pitch in, ask Kim (CTK director of community engagement), Bill Chapman or Bill Mintz about workdays every Friday and Saturday morning at our shop in Gulfton.
