Epiphany Greetings, Christ the King Community!

Continuing with the January focus on "New Beginnings," I am excited to share three more "New's" this week that embody our mission statement:

Christ the King Evangelical Lutheran Church is a welcoming and inclusive community nourished by Christ in vibrant worship and committed to God’s mission of love and service, especially to the oppressed and needy.

  • New staff: It is my great joy to announce two new staff joining our team who bring a wealth of experience and passion for ministry.   Welcome to Deacon Aimee Elles, our new full-time Director of Congregational Engagement, and to Kim Williams, our new part-time Director of Community Engagement.  We will formally welcome and meet Deacon Aimee and Kim on Sunday, January 21st.  Deacon Aimee and Kim will be introducing themselves to the congregation and the broader community in a variety of ways over the next few weeks.
  • New wine:  You may notice a difference in the taste of the communion wine this month.  We are adding non-alcoholic wine to embrace our mission statement to welcome and include those experiencing addiction and to address parents of young children's concerns.  Non-alcoholic wine will always be offered, and when we have worship enabler capacity, both options will be available.  I am grateful for the Worship and Music Committee and the Altar Guild who went through the process of trying a variety of wines to find the best one for CTK.
  • New budget: Your Congregational Council will be on retreat this week, finalizing the budget for 2024, which will be brought to you for vote at the Annual Meeting, Part 2 on Sunday, February 4th.  Please, please, please notify our office of your pledge at ctk@ctkelc.org by the end of the day on Monday.  Our budget is determined by these pledges, and we have an amazing opportunity this year to begin new and exciting initiatives to grow our spiritual home even further.

Nourished abundantly by Christ, may we welcome, love, and serve abundantly in 2024, as we grow in faith together.

Grace and peace and even more hope to you all!
Pastor Jennifer
