Dear faithful People of Christ the King Lutheran Church:

Things are relatively quiet at Christ the King Lutheran Church since many of us are still observing Independence Day and celebrating our Nation’s 250th birthday. Here’s a prayer, based on Abraham Lincoln’s second inaugural address in 1865 which is most appropriate for the times we are living in.

Lord, give us faith that right makes might.

Grant, o merciful God, that with malice toward none, with charity for all, with grimness in the right as you give us to see the right, we may strive to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds…to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Peace and Joy – and Courage!
