Dear faithful People of Christ the King Lutheran Church:
Thank you for your prayers and patience this past week; I’m looking forward to being with you next weekend. The procedure to remove a growth from one of my kidneys was successful. There was no malignancy. It has taken longer than I expected for me to recover from the effects of anesthesia and intubation, yet I expect to get slowly back-to-normal during this week.
Please keep Cheryl Gaspard in your prayers as she begins recovering from today’s knee replacement surgery. We will all notice her absence.
Over these next two weeks, we’ll begin to see many hopeful signs of a new program year taking shape at Christ the King Lutheran Church. After our six-week summer pause, the Executive Committee and Congregation Council will return to their regular meetings, and we’ll soon introduce and install our Call Committee as they begin this important season of discernment. By the end of the month, our Rice Village facilities should also look a little brighter and more welcoming, including the hoped-for completion of a new HVAC air handler that will help us use the second floor of the education building safely and comfortably again.
May these remaining summer days bring moments of rest, renewal, and gratitude as we look together toward the season ahead.
Peace and Joy – and Courage!
Mandy
