Dear Faithful People of Christ the King Lutheran Church,

This Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m., we are planning a Bonfire, Advent Vespers, and Carol Sing in our courtyard as we conclude Advent vespers and prepare for the celebration of Christ’s Birth.

We’ve had a marvelous series of Advent Vespers using the Holden Village setting and mediating on Godly Play stories which prepare us for the coming of Jesus. Holden Evening Prayer was composed to be sung in a camp or camp-like setting and we believe this will be a joyous way to prepare for the upcoming holy days.

Wednesday evening is also the first time Christ’s Church begins singing the “O antiphons,” the liturgical sentences sung before and after Mary’s Song (Magnificat). The “O antiphon” for this Wednesday is:

O Wisdom,
proceeding from the mouth
of the Most High
pervading and permeating all creation,
mightily ordering all things:
  Come, and teach us
  The way of prudence.
A worthy prayer for us all in these imprudent times.

Peace and Joy – and Courage!
