On Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 6:00 p.m., Mark Mummert, Church Organist, will present a Hymn Festival: “Come to the Waters: A Hymn Festival on the Lenten Journey to the Waters of Baptism” in the nave of Christ the King Church. During the hymn festival, fourteen hymns from Evangelical Lutheran Worship will be sung surrounded by scripture readings, prayers, and readings from Luther’s Small Catechism. The festival, on the First Sunday in Lent, celebrates the time of Lent as a period of preparation for the baptisms of Easter and the biblical themes that surface during the forty day season. Members of the choirs and instrumentalists of the congregation will assist with the hymn festival. All are welcome to the festival. Nursery care will be provided. Artwork for the festival was prepared by Betty J. Rubner of Milwaukee. Mr. Mummert will also present this hymn festival in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, February 28, 2010.
