Sing Me To Heaven – Music From This Side Of The Veil

CANTARE Houston presents a concert of choral music at Christ the King Church on Thursday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m., entitled “Sing me to Heaven – music from this side of the veil.” CANTARE gives this description of the program: In this time of heartache, tragedy, and uncertainty we invite you to join us as we explore the idea of heaven and seek to touch the divine through the art of choral music. From the beginning of time composers have sought to express this rite of passage from the life on earth we know. Music for these concerts is rich and diverse – exploring what lies beyond and offering the listener a place of comforting peace, solace and reflection. Concert repertoire includes: Bach's motet, Komm Jesu Komm; Rheinberger's Cantus Missa in E flat for double choir; Daniel Gawthrop's Sing me to heaven; Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei (arr. from the Adagio for Strings); John Corgiliano's Fern Hill with string quintet, harp, piano, mezzo-soprano solo; and Spirituals by Norman Luboff, Timothy Brown, and William Dawson.
