Sunday Night Meals

Families are once again needed this semester to help with meals during our Luther League meetings on Sunday nights to help with food costs. Meals can range from anything home-cooked to store bought or catered. Enough food to serve 15- 20 people should be prepared. Feel free to team up with another family or work individually! Luther League at Mito Fun Run!

Our group has an opportunity to support two of our congregation’s members, Landon Schaeffer and Melody Wilds, by participating in Christopher's Heart Fun Run sponsored by the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. The run will be Saturday, February 6 at Sam Houston Park in downtown Houston. The Fun Run includes a family-friendly one-mile race or a 5K race route with free drinks, food, and entertainment following the race. Register to walk, run, or volunteer at the event. Super Bowl Cookout Party

This year’s Luther League Super Bowl party will be held at the Beckmans’ house starting at 5 p.m. Join us for food, games, commercials, and of course the NFL Championship. All coming should bring a finger food to share! Please contact Tim Lenz to RSVP.

Jr. High Lock-in

All 6th - 8th grade students are invited to a lock-in on Saturday, February 6 at 7 p.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church. Join us for games, food, worship, Bible study, and movies as we each take time to discover our spiritual gifts and how we can use them in our lives today. Cost of event is $15 per person. Safari Theme Set for Valentine Dinner

All members and friends of Christ the King Lutheran Church are invited to the 6th annual Valentine Dinner on February 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the church parish hall. Come enjoy a superb four course gourmet dinner complemented by an elegant Safari theme for only $60 a couple or $30 a person. Once again this year we will have a silent auction to supplement the dinner. 30 Hr Famine Feb 26-27

All 6th - 12th grade students are invited to this year’s 30 Hour Famine at Kinsmen Lutheran Church. Many churches from our synod will be joining the efforts of hundreds of thousands of young people all over the nation who will be On an Empty Stomach – the theme for World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine this year – by going without food for 30 hours to get a taste of what the world’s poorest children and families face everyday. During this time they will engage in different activities, including community service projects, fellowship and games, bible study, and awareness events. Prior to the event weekend, students raise funds with the knowledge that every $30 they raise can help feed and care for a child for a month. What is Luther League?

The Luther League is open to all youth in 6th - 12th grade. They are a mixture of youth who are members and non-members of this congregation. They meet once a week on Sunday nights at 6:00 pm in the basement youth room. Meetings include fellowship, games, food, time to relax, films, and discussions including issues in school, current events, church, religion, world, and service. Throughout the year there are opportunities for fellowship and service which may or may not fall on Sunday evenings. Please see the Luther League events article for upcoming gatherings. Friends and visitors are always welcome!
