Canstruction 2009 –You Can Make Two Miracles Happen
Canstruction 2009 –Mark your calendars now for Canstruction 2009, sponsored by the Society of Design Administration held at Centerpoint Energy (1111 Louisiana) November 8 through 13 to see larger-than-life structures built from canned food by local architects, engineers and design firms. All food is donated to the Houston Food Bank when the displays are taken down.
Christ the King Church has been invited to send volunteers to “decanstruct” tens of thousands donated canned goods and pack them for transport to the Houston Food Bank! We will tour the “art” exhibit, admire the winners, and then set to work under the direction of architects and engineers.
The participating firms are now raising money to buy their canned goods and designing their “sculpture” to compete for the prizes. Their goal is to donate 40,000-50,000 cans of food for the hungry.
Christ the King Church is now signing up volunteers who CAN commit for November 14 (2nd Saturday in November) from 7:00 a.m. to noon. We will “decanstruct” the sculptures, thereby miraculously turning art into food for the hungry.

Make a second miracle happen by being part of the many Christ the King Church volunteers. Our goal is 100 volunteers.
Volunteers will meet at Christ the King Church at 7:00 a.m. Volunteers ages 8-14 need to bring a parent or grandparent along. Wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Bring small sissors or pocket knives, and a big smile.
