Spirituality & Meaning in Aging

Spirituality & Meaning in Aging is the theme of the 23rd Annual Joseph C. & Selenia E. Valley Conference on Aging, on Friday, October 2.

Presentations, from both individuals and panels, will examine aging and spirituality from the perspective of several belief systems and will address the relationship between spirituality, health and well-being during aging.

Sponsored by Center on Aging at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHSC-H) School of Nursing, the conference’s keynote speaker will be Rabbi Samuel E. Karff. Since 1999, he has been Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Beth Israel and currently serves as Associate Director of the McGovern Center for Health, Humanities, & the Human Spirit and is a Visiting Professor in the Medical School, both at UTHSC-H. A co-founder of the Sacred Vocations program, Rabbi Karff is a well-known lecturer in religion and the healthcare field both here & abroad.

Pr. Moore is one of the featured panelists following Rabbi Karff’s keynote. The conference closing speaker is Dr. J. Pittman McGehee, Director of the Jung Center in Houston.
