Invitation to Leipzig

The Houston-Leipzig Sister City Association is inviting Houstonians, especially members of Christ the King Church, to be in Leipzig for special events in our sister city October 6-11. October 9 is the official Twentieth Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall and the non-violent dissolution of the East German communist regime, known as the "Peaceful Revolution." Below are some of the special events in the city of Leibniz, Bach, Mendelssohn and Schumann.

• Dedication of the "Peace Window" (a gift from Houston to Leipzig) in St. Thomas Church in the Sunday Service with Pastor Wolff and Pastor Moore preaching
• Presentation of the "Peace Cantata" by Prof. Ann Gebuhr and commissioned by the Houston-Leipzig Sister City Association
  
• Candlelight March around the City Center
  
• Reception at the Consulate General of the United States of America
  
• Concert by the St. Thomas Boy Choir and visit to the campus of the Forum Thomanum
  
• Bach B Minor Mass
  
• Excursions to Dresden, Berlin and Leipzig Porsche Factory

Rotarians from District 5890 (Houston) are helping in the effort to fund the “Peace Window,” which costs approximately $120,000. Rotary International Districts 5890 (Houston area) and 1880 (Leipzig, Dresden, Nuremberg area) have scheduled a Peace Conference in Leipzig that weekend. For information contact, Phil Cezeaux.
