Campus and Young Adult Ministry

logoTo the college students worshiping at Christ the King Lutheran Church…

In the name of Jesus Christ and on behalf of this congregation, I welcome you. Some of you are returning to be with us, others of you are new to this whole “college thing” and might be worshiping with us for the first time. Regardless, I speak for this congregation when I say, we are praying this academic year helps you to learn more about who you are and what God is calling you to do and be.

This congregation cares deeply about your journey of faith; otherwise, I wouldn’t be writing you. I’ve been called through this congregation and on behalf of the whole Church to serve as a campus pastor. I serve the students, faculty, and staff of the University of Houston, Rice University, and the Texas Medical Center. All of us at Christ the King Lutheran Church look forward to getting to know you and to doing life with you.

Beyond making you feel welcome during worship, we hope you will also experience hospitality by joining us after the late service for lunch at the “Sunday Café” located in the parish hall. Lunch is FREE for all college students. We also invite you to share your gifts with this worship community. Whether that be leading worship as an assistant minister, offering your musical gifts in worship, or through volunteering your time through this congregation’s many outreach ministries.

I hope you will take time out of your busy week to get to know other students connected through Houston Lutheran Campus Ministry (HLCM).
HLCM offers plenty of opportunities for this: weekly Bible study, midweek worship, ministering to those in need, and monthly social activities. To find out more about HLCM, you can pick up an information pamphlet in the welcoming area just outside the nave.

Your fellow servant in Christ,
Pr. Brad Fuerst
Campus Pastor
