The Current State of Christianity in the Holy Land.
Saida Rashmawi will talk about the current state of Christianity in the Holy Land. The talk will be accompanied by a sale of traditional Olivewood items.
May 10: Report and Recommendation on Ministry Policies by the Task Force for ELCA Studies on Human Sexuality.
The congregation will have an opportunity to examine and offer feed back on the report and recommendations by the Task Force. The recommendation will be discussed and voted upon on at the 2009 Churchwide Assembly in August. A set of documents including a summary and FAQ’s is available in print and electronically. Hard copies will be in the narthex and in the church office.
May 17: Update on Mission Partners in the Central African Republic.
Carolyn Jacobs, co-chair of the TX-LA Synod Global Mission Team, will present an update on our companion synod, The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Central African Republic, as well as information on cultural differences. She visited CAR last year as part of an ELCA sponsored trip. This month’s mission offering will support education projects of the ELC/CAR. It has many ministries in the areas of education, health care, women’s empowerment, theological training and more. It relies on support from companions in the U.S. and Europe to help keep these ministries going. See May Mission Offering for more information.
