It’s That Time Again

While the memories of Hurricane Ike’s visit last fall are still vivid for many people, a new hurricane season will begin on June 1. Take time now to reflect back and evaluate how well our hurricane plans worked. By asking the following questions, we can begin preparing now.

• Were food and water supplies adequate?
• Was “sheltering in place” the right decision?
• Was evacuation the right decision?
• What was forgotten?
• Was someone in the neighborhood “overlooked” and may need assistance this time around?
• What lessons were learned both for individuals and the congregation?
• Did communications work well, particularly related to the ongoing work of the church?
• What should be done differently?

As you take a personal inventory, also consider how we as a congregation might be better prepared. Please share those thoughts with other church members. To be prepared is to be in a better position to serve those whose needs become great when disaster strikes.
