World Hunger Awareness
May 13-August 20 World Hunger Awareness -- three Lutheran pastors from the WV-WMD (West Virginia) synod will put foot to pedal and seat to saddle and travel over 13,000 miles to raise awareness (and donations) to help eliminate world hunger. They will be making stops in each of 65 cities, the 2009 Youth Gathering and the ChurchWide Assembly. They will be in our synod Wednesday, July 22 from Seguin. The revs will present in a public venue in collaboration with the Houston Food Bank from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Housing is needed for 5 (3 Rev’s, 1 driver, and 1 coordinator) and a secure place for a 15 passenger van and a 12 ft trailer. Housing can be together or separate as long as transportation to and from the venue is provided. The group will need to leave for New Orleans by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23.
A team is needed to help organize and facilitate this event. Memorial Park has been suggested as a venue with the Houston Bike Club and other interested bike riders leading the “entourage” into and around the park. Please email or call 936-443-8866 for more information. This is a collaboration event of the ELCA World Hunger and the Gulf Coast Texas Louisiana Synod. Let’s see how much we can do!
