Christ the King Lutheran Church youth and adults are traveling to Germany during Spring Break, March 13-23. Destination cities include Eisenach, Erfurt, Berlin, Leipzig, Wittenberg, and Dresden. The trip will explore key sites in the history of the Reformation and Lutheran heritage, such as the Castle Church where Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses and the City Church in which Luther preached often. Other excursions include visits to the Wartburg Castle in Eisenach, Georgenkirche (church where Bach was baptized) and Buchenwald concentration camp near Weimar.
A special feature of the trip will include staying with families of St. Thomas Church in Leipzig. During the trip the youth of Christ the King Church will have the opportunity to meet and have fellowship with many of the youth from St. Thomas Church and participate in a youth led worship service on our final day.
From Leipzig the group will take day trips to Wittenberg, Berlin and Dresden where they will view and worship at many historical churches, visit the Pergamon and Zwinger Museums, the Brandenburg Gate, and many more sights! Another momentous experience for the group will be participating in a ceremony with the Leipzig Mayor and City Hall officials as they name a street car in Leipzig, “Houston.” Pastor Robert Moore and Tim Lenz will lead the group of youth, young adults, and parents.
