Advocacy Camp Coming to Houston!

logoThere is no better time for the faith community to get involved in social policy issues than Now!

The upcoming Regular Session of the 81st Texas Legislature starting January 13 provides a profound opportunity for the faith community to impact public policy. This conference will focus on how to be an effective advocate. Participants will engage in a series of presentations and workshops on a variety of issues that matter to the faith community ranging from healthcare and global warming to campaign finance.

In addition to issue education, participants will gain an understanding of the faith community’s historic role in social policy; what their particular faith says about public policy for the common good; how to frame issues through writing and speech; and how to stay out of partisan politics.

The event will feature keynote addresses by Mayor Bill White and political strategist Mustafa Tameez.

Advocacy Camp is co-sponsored by the TX LA Gulf Coast Synod of the ELCA.
