Christ the King Church has as her 2008 missional emphasis to, “minister to the spiritual needs of young adults as they transition through different life experiences.” The greatest asset Christ the King Church has for realizing this emphasis this year (and beyond) is…YOU - individually and collectively.
Beginning September 7th, Pr. Brad Fuerst, Houston Lutheran Campus Pastor, will be offering a young adult ministry forum open to all congregation members: The aims of this forum are:
† To enhance participants understanding of the variety of challenges faced by adults under 40.
† To foster intergenerational approach to young adult ministry at Christ the King
† To encourage economic understanding of young adults, and
† To cultivate inclusion of young adults in the life, ministry, and mission of Christ the King.
We live and serve together as Christ’s Body during a time when, “many [college students] are actively engaged in a spiritual quest, with nearly half reporting that they consider it ‘essential’ or ‘very important’ to seek opportunities to help them grow spiritually.”1 Some of these college students and young adults just beginning their vocation are coming to Christ the King Church on their quest. This congregation has expressed a sincere desire to be ready when they come.
Who knows what will come of this forum? Some members may feel called to form a mentoring relationship with one of our college students. Others may feel led to make themselves more available and present to young adults before and after worship on Sundays. There’s only one way to find out, “Come and see!”
The forum will be on Sundays in September at 9:45 a.m. Mark your calendars, and plan to attend - be you young or “seasoned.”
