We had a record turn-out on Saturday, May 10 when 21 volunteers from Christ the King worked at the Houston Food Bank. Once again, the Volunteer Coordinator told me as we left the building, "CTK does great work! You get so much done, and it is done correctly."
Thank you all for your hard work on the "Lucy Line" in helping get donated food sorted, cleaned, and boxed to distribute to centers that feed the hungry people in our community. Thanks to Lisa Jensen, Bill Chapman, Jim Walker, Lori Smith, Landon Schaeffer, David Stock, Elna Sheetz (who came all the way from Atlanta to work with us), Mary Neberman, Chengdao Lee, David West, Rochelle Manske, Kathy Rogers, Thaine Manske, Amy Baird, Flora Roeder, Jan Bouquot, Linda Schoene, Uwe Strecker, Bridget Jensen, Gertie Kuhn, and Anna Stock.
Special thanks to Rochelle Manske for making two batches of delicious cookies for everyone and to Trish Chapman for getting our lunch started, so we hungry CTK workers could dine together. We had such a good time visiting. Put that on your calendar.

July 12, 2008. This is the date for our next trip to the Food Bank. I hope you can come and bring friends, a spouse, children 8 years and older, and other members from Christ the King Church. Talk up your experiences with the project, and get some others to join us.
