Pr. Kathy Haueisen recently edited the book, 40 Day Journey with Kathleen Norris. For Ms. Norris, the award-winning poet, writer, and author, the spiritual world is rooted in the chaos of daily life. Pr. Haueisen selected forty inspiring passages from Norris’ writing that show the depth and beauty of that daily chaos.

I had the honor of interviewing Kathleen Norris for this book project and was touched by her humor, humility, and desire to be helpful to others. We visited in the lobby of a New Orleans hotel when she was brought to town to address fire and security personnel who were recovering from all the trauma of the events in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. I experienced Kathleen Norris as someone who is both open about her personal faith journey—including the times of doubt and discouragement—and profoundly in touch with the ups and downs of the journeys of other people who experience doubt and despair. The hardest part of the project was having to limit the selection for this book to only 40 passages of her wit, wisdom, and winsome ways of connecting faith with everyday life. It was a joy to work with her insights and I hope any who read this book are as inspired by Kathleen Norris as I was.
