Last year the Service and Care Commission began an effort to supplement our congregation’s mission giving by instituting the Mission Offering at the conclusion of the weekend liturgies. The offering re-establishes one of the oldest traditions of the church, receiving offerings for the poor as we are dismissed with the charge to "Go In Peace. Serve the Lord."
Below is a summary of what we have done in the last 12 monthly offerings, which is a great testament to the first steps of this new initiative. These totals include only what was given during the Mission Offerings at the end of our weekend liturgies and do not include contributions made through the budget or through other special efforts. Please look for the annual report which will be distributed at the second part of the annual meeting on February 3 for a more comprehensive accounting of all of the Service and Care contributions made by the congregation in 2007. We are thankful for everyone’s participation in our congregation’s mission to minister to others and we ask for your continued support in 2008 as we celebrate the gifts that God has given to all of us.
