Organ Donation Website

This year the Texas Department of State Health Services launched a revised online registry for individuals desiring to become organ donors at the time of their death. The creation of the registry allows access to information at a time when medical decisions need to be made quickly and accurately. It also facilitates possible organ procurement for the over 7000 individuals in Texas waiting for an organ transplant. While consent for organ donation can be also indicated upon renewal of a driver’s license, the website offers more detailed information and answers to frequently asked questions, so that individuals can decide if organ donation is right for them. In addition, individuals may update information as necessary. Only organ procurement organizations can access registrant information. To access the registry, visit www.DonatelifeTexas.org and complete the registration form. In about 10 days, you will receive your donor card and a letter. To complete the registry process, you and two witnesses must sign the letter. The letter must be returned to the registry within 30 days.
