The Bach Society at Christ the King Lutheran Church celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary this season.The anniversary season is opened with an Abendmusik concert on Sunday, October 7, at 5:00 p.m. featuring some of Johann Sebastian Bach’s most joyful compositions. The professional Bach Choir and the Bach Orchestra, now playing exclusively on period instruments, will be led by Albert LeDoux.
The anniversary program includes excerpts from Cantata BWV 29, Wir danken dir, Gott; a motet for double choir, Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied; and the secular cantata BWV 205, Der zufriedengestellte Aeolus, with guest soloists Sam Handley (in the role of Aeolus); Randolph Lacy (Zephyrus); Stephanie Prewitt (Pomona); and Melissa Givens (Pallas).
The season continues with a concert by the Ensemble Amarcord from Leipzig on Sunday, October 28. The first Bach Vespers, a re-creation of the Bach Society’s first ever Vespers in 1982, will take place on Sunday, November 11.
