Pastor Moore did not get to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at this year’s
Lutheran Day at the Astros, but with a combined effort from Houston area Lutheran
churches, Lutheran Social Services (LSS) Children’s Ministries received
more than $7,000 in donations. This amount tripled the figure raised last year!
Christ the King Church purchased a total of 61 tickets for the game and raised $1,366, which was the second highest amount of funds raised in Houston thanks to all the wonderful support given to last month’s mission offering. The amount raised gave Pastor Moore the privilege of receiving the oversized check on the field prior to the game from the Houston Astros on behalf of Lutheran Social Services. Living Word Lutheran Church in Katy raised a substantial amount of funds to enable their Senior Pastor, Mike Aus, to throw out the game’s first pitch.
