This summer confirmation camp was held at our synod affiliated camp Lutherhill June 10-15. Dylan Beckman, Aubyn Link, Franz Liebster, Matthew Willcockson, Blake Bourne, and Aaron Schaer along with Pastor Liebster and Tim Lenz, traveled to Lutherhill near La Grange to participate in a very successful and fulfilling week at camp. The camp was attended by many confirmation classes from the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod. That week recorded the most confirmation campers ever recorded at the time. 176 youth lived, learned, played and sang together for five days. The program was excellent in many ways, largely due to the college aged staff who acted as the camper’s counselors and led most of the week’s activities.
During the week at camp I noticed a great deal of growth not only with our youth but with the camp itself. The confirmands started the week a little uncertain but left the last day of camp full of excitement and joy from the weeks adventures and new friendships they made. The camp has grown tremendously over the years with updated and new facilities, such as the Carby Chapel, which stands at the top of the hill overlooking miles of the beautiful hill country.
During the week Pastor Liebster and I were able to form and strengthen our relationships with the youth to network with other church leaders from our synod. I believe the goals and expectations we had in mind for the confirmands and Lutherhill during the week were both fulfilled. We will continue to expand our participation in Lutherhill programs in the future.
