Christ The King Church Volunteers Raise The Bar At Houston Food Bank

submitted by Anna Stock

The boss of the assembly line and the Director of Volunteers both praised the volunteer efforts of our group. According to them, we have a reputation for excellent work and positive attitude. The Houston Food Bank thanks all of you for participating.
On January 13 we started this year with 16 workers who sorted products donated by local grocers clearing their warehouses for year-end. We took 181 boxes from the conveyer belt, cleaned the contents and filled 1 box with cleaning supplies and 97 boxes with usable food sorted into 20 categories that were stored in the warehouse at the Food Bank. We also filled 84 boxes of trash with out-of-date food and damaged goods. If we can do all this with 16 volunteers, think what we can do with 32 workers. Please join us.

Special thanks to the 4 teenagers: Martin Salas, Andrea Salas, Pviya Vij and Theresa Sturdivant. Thanks also to the 12 adults who attended: Donna Olson-Salas, Mary Neberman, Nancy and Dewy Letness, Jan and Jerry Bouquet, Michael and Karin Von Der Osten, Gertie and Bruno Kuhn, and David and Anna Stock.

P.S. Bruno Kuhn says he and Gertie and Mary Neberman are the best team Christ the King Church has going to the Food Bank. I wonder if there are others who want to test that position. See you March 10, when the competition begins. We meet in the church parking lot at 8:00 a.m. and carpool to the Food Bank.

Please RSVP by noon on the Thursday before the scheduled Saturday to Anna Stock.
