February 4: Is God Male?
The word God appears sometimes too small a word for the being that created,
redeemed, and sustains us. How do we see God? Is God male? If not, is God female?
Neither? Both? Come and explore through scripture, hymnody, and liturgy our
perceptions of God.
February 11: Where are the Women?
Our scriptures and our language usage in liturgy are both overwhelmingly masculine
and patriarchal. What can we find in the Old and New Testament as we search
for female participation in the story of God’s love for God’s people?
Bring your Bible and let us do some walking through the scriptures.
The facilitator is Barbara Rozek, wife, mother of three, grandmother and high school history teacher with a Ph.D. from Rice in U.S. History. She has declared that she is searching for the feminine at church and struggling.
