Mission Offering for February is SEARCH

SOUPER BOWL OF CARING and SEARCH

Our February Mission Offering for SEARCH starts on Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday, February 4.

On a day when the world is focused on football and fun, young people across the country are quietly raising millions of dollars to help people who are hungry and hurting through a program known as the Souper Bowl of Caring. The Souper Bowl of Caring is a youth-led, grassroots movement of caring, the result of thousands of young people joining together to fight hunger and poverty in their communities. Since 1990, $33 million has been raised for charities across the country. It comes at a time of year when donations are down because the flurry of holiday giving is over; yet hunger takes no holiday. Souper Bowl of Caring is a way for young people to touch lives and fight hunger and poverty in their local communities. Over the last couple of years, the effort was led by over 11,000 organizations across the country and the world, and it continues to grow every year.

At Christ the King Church, the youth will collect donations after services as Mission Offering for February 4 and report the collected amount to Souper Bowl of Caring. Our amount will be added to all of the other collection amounts across the country that day so a national total can be reported to the media! Then, we will deliver 100% of the collection directly to our charity of choice, which will be SEARCH. Maybe someday the results of this collection will be shared on national television during the Super Bowl football game! For now, we personally thank you for supporting this important youth-led effort, and we will report the results in “The King’s Banner.”

Mission Offering for February

SEARCH will continue to be the recipient for all of February’s Mission Offerings. SEARCH is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping homeless men, women and children get off the streets and into jobs and affordable housing. SEARCH serves more than 10,000 homeless people annually, providing them with the tools to work and achieve self sufficiency. SEARCH’s core focus is employment, education and job training. So, please continue to fill the baskets as you exit the nave after worship each Sunday in February to support our long-standing mission partner SEARCH.
