New Chat Room for Christ the King Church Parents
Nothing fully prepares parents for a baby – there is a lot of “on the job’ training. New mothers juggle recovery from childbirth and adjusting to a new little person in the house. Fathers sometimes struggle to maintain balance between work and family. Support systems and social groups change as well. Dinner for two after work becomes a booth at Chuck E. Cheese. An evening at the theater becomes popcorn and a video at home. Those weeks of broken sleep can also leave parents feeling drained.
So how can the faith community help? Christ the King Church embraces the challenge and strives to support families through their parenthood journey. The nursery team provides a safe, nurturing environment for little ones. Parents Night Out offers couples an opportunity for adult time. The Milestones Program exemplifies the partnership between church and parents in a child’s faith formation.
Online chatrooms for parents are also a source of wisdom and empathy for each other. Many mothers join online groups to discuss everything from colic to choosing a preschool. Christ the King Church is offering a similar opportunity. Penny Linsenmayer and Linda Schoene, Congregational Nurse are putting together an online format exclusively for parents of young children at our congregation. Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and share information. Imagine going online at 3:00 a.m. and perhaps finding someone else who is equally sleep-deprived and can really understand what you are feeling.
Interested parents, both mothers and fathers, may contact Linda or Penny for more information.
