Where Do Pastors Come From?
The pews of our congregations. The process
of discernment, educating, in-the-field training, and placement of pastors is
a long and expensive process. The ELCA is blessed with many fine seminaries that
partner with congregations and synods in this process. One them, Trinity Lutheran
Seminary in Columbus, Ohio—is celebrating 175 years of partnering in Lutheran
Theological Education. One of our members, Sabine Lamar, is currently a student
there. Pastor Kathy Haueisen studied there her first year of seminary before moving
to Texas. Dr. Walt Bouman who has preached and taught in Houston several times
and who just died a few months ago, was on the faculty at Trinity for many years.
If you wish to give a gift in his memory to help 175 years of educating and equipping
pastors, you may do so by adding “Dr. Bouman – Trinity Lutheran Seminary”
to the memo line of your checks made out to Christ the King Lutheran Church.
