Lutheran World Federation Sunday—October
2
The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is
a worldwide communion of 140 churches in 78 countries on six continents. It represents
66 million Lutherans and has its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Field offices
for humanitarian and emergency assistance are located in 23 countries where LWF
works. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has been a member of the Lutheran
World Federation since its founding in 1947. Together with LWF we are present
feeding the hungry in refugee resettlement camps, teaching farming techniques,
constructing grain banks, and working with clean water projects. We are present
with theological education, evangelism training, HIV/AIDS workers, Bible school,
literacy development, and advocacy for human rights. Thank you, LWF! And thank
you Christ the King Church members, for your gifts to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal
help support the life-saving efforts of the Lutheran World Federation. Please
join Lutheran Christians around the world in praying for the Lutheran World Federation
during the month of October.
