Church Budget
The Church’s budget has four principal
parts: Part 1 is the operating budget – salaries, utilities, and other expenses;
Part 2 is the building budget, which traditionally covered the mortgage payment;
Part 3 receives member giving to special appeals such as the Bach Society, Melanchthon
Institute, World Hunger Appeal, Hospitality Apartments, and the Foundation; and
Bridge to the Future is the three-year fund drive to help the congregation cover
the increased mortgage payment required to finance the new facilities and to reduce
the church’s debt. One of the important conditions of the Bridge to the
Future campaign in 2003 was to reduce these transfers each year over a time span
of three years. Our goal remains to eliminate that transfer after 2006 and to
pay our mortgage from regular giving - but we’ve got a long way to go.
