Last month I made my first ever trip to the Houston Food Bank. I was amazed at what I saw. Our little group of 15 volunteers plus a few other volunteers repackaged 5 pallets of rice into 2 pound bags—totaling 3,100 pounds of rice.
I learned that the Food Bank provides food to agencies in an 18 county area
in quantities to feed 230,000 every month.
Volunteers from Christ the King Lutheran Church spend a Saturday morning every
other month. Next time is the Second Saturday in September – September
10. We meet in the Christ the King Church parking lot at 8:00 a.m.
Wear old clothes, long pants (no shorts) and closed toe shoes. Come prepared
to make a difference and be impressed.
Thanks to those who served in July: Uwe Strecker, Dewey and Nancy Letness, Luanne Novak, Anna Johnson, David and Anna Stock, Adrienne, Nathanial, Matthew, and Timothy Winston, Chris and Sarah Flores, Erin Mahaffey, and Tim Lenz.
