Mission Trip to the Lutheran Center in Mexico City July 16-24

The Lutheran Center in Mexico City is an ecumenical and inter-Lutheran retreat center which primarily serves Christian groups from the United States who wish to meet Mexican people and experience their culture, their faith, their language, their wealth, their poverty, their dreams and their friendship.

Groups of adults, youth or families study Latin American reality and meet Mexicans who are making a difference in the context of their faith. You can:

As one participant recounts, “My hands and arms hurt from my miserable attempt to grind corn, and to imagine that I didn’t even grind enough for ONE tortilla...how would I handle it if I was like our host and had five children to feed, tortillas being the main staple of each meal! We all erupt in laughter when we hear an elderly woman explain to us that once the woman has learned to make a perfect tortilla, she is ready to get married. Only one of us has achieved that—a man!”

Join members of our congregation as we go to Mexico July 16-24, 2005. We will explore cultural, economic, social, and political issues in Mexico from a faith perspective and have a great time together. We will also visit our missionary, David Brondos, and witness the great work he does as dean of the Theological Community in Mexico City. Total cost for the trip will be approximately $1000.00. Deadline for registration with a $100.00 deposit is April 1.

If you’re interested, please let Beverly Davis know or 713-523-2864 ext.27 as soon as possible so we can begin to plan the itinerary.
