The ONE Campaign is a nationwide movement to rally Americans – ONE by ONE — to fight the emergency of global AIDS, widespread hunger, and extreme poverty. The ONE Campaign is a great way to raise awareness and solidarity around the fight against global AIDS, hunger and extreme poverty. The ONE Campaign is engaging Americans everywhere we gather – churches and synagogues, on the internet and college campuses, at community meetings and concerts. Bread for the World has partnered with a diverse coalition of faith-based and antipoverty groups like DATA and World Vision, celebrities like Bono from U2, corporate partnerships, and others to promote The ONE Campaign. The Campaign will show the steps people can take, ONE by ONE, to make a difference. The first step is signing the declaration:
The ONE Declaration reads as follows:
We believe that in the best American tradition of helping others help themselves,
now is the time to join with other countries in an historic pact for compassion
and justice to help the poorest people of the world overcome AIDS and extreme
poverty.
We recognize that a pact including such measures as fair trade, debt relief,
fighting corruption and targeting an additional one percent of the US budget
towards providing basic needs—education, health, clean water, food, and
care for orphans—would transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation
in the poorest countries.
We commit ourselves – ONE person, ONE voice, ONE vote at a time –
to make a better, safer world for all.
