Red Cross Shelter

Christ the King Lutheran Church as a Red Cross Shelter

Christ the King Church and the American Red Cross are partnering to make the church’s facilities available as a disaster shelter. In keeping with the focus of a neighborhood church, this project will involve individuals from nearby neighborhoods as well as members of CTK. Churches are very often the first to respond to a call for help, but without prior preparation, this excellent resource has limited effectiveness. Training provided by the Red Cross is scheduled for Saturday, September 25, 9-11:00 a.m., in the parish hall. Individuals are needed to assist with registration, meals, dormitory management, health services and client services. Because a disaster is unpredictable, a core group of 20-30 individuals is needed in addition to those who may not be available for training, but want to serve in an emergency. Contact Linda Schoene or Beverly Davis or 713-523-2864 x27 for additional information or to register for the training.
