Do You have a Story to Tell?

Next year, Christian Community Service Center (CCSC) will celebrate 25 years of ministry to our community – a significant accomplishment for each of us!

One way we will celebrate reaching this milestone will be to put together a commemorative book entitled The Heart and Soul of CCSC. This book will be a collection of true stories from members of the CCSC community, which includes everyone who participates in the life of CCSC: all volunteers, staff, clients, clergy members, and donors.

Together, these individual stories will weave together the collective voice of CCSC’s quarter century of ministry. So think back over the experiences you have had with CCSC. Begin writing your own story to share. To help you get started, consider these stories first lines:

· “I will never forget a family we assisted through the Emergency Services Program. The mother was so tired, and she needed someone safe to share her story with. I was that person, and this is how CCSC helped her…”

· “Let me tell you about the time I bought my sister’s sweater at the Resale Shop and then gave it to her for Christmas…”
· “I began volunteering at CCSC because I wanted to give back to the community, but once I began, I stayed because of the friendships I made with other volunteers. Five years ago, one of the volunteers I worked with was diagnosed with breast cancer…”

· “CCSC has been part of my life for nearly 20 years, and while I have many stories, there is one day that we truly experienced what a full moon can do to an organization…”

· Late one afternoon, someone began knocking insistently at the donations door…

Share your story with us! It should be a short story of up to 400 words in length. Forms are available on the website , at the office and in volunteer work areas. Give your story a title, put your name on it, and send it to us by September 30, 2004 via mail (PO Box 27924, 77227), email, fax (713-961-1548), or simply bring it by the CCSC office.
