Each Sunday morning from 9:45-10:45 this summer all children and their families are invited to the pre-kindergarten classroom to watch The Story Keepers, an animated presentation of events in the life of Jesus and of parables he told. The series follows an early Christian family who live in the city of Rome, capital of the Roman Empire, of which Jesus’ homeland in Palestine was a very small part. The time is A.D. 64, about thirty years after Jesus’ death and resurrection. At that time, telling the stories of Jesus was risky because Emperor Nero of Rome did not like the Christians and persecuted them.
The heroes are a Christian family led by Ben and his wife, Helena. Together, they run a bakery, with the assistance of their teenage apprentice, Zak. They also take care of four children who have lost their parents in the persecution by Nero. Through their lives, they tell the stories of Jesus to other secret Christians, and sometimes even their enemies.
Join the class each week to see the exciting tales unfold as Ben and Helena pass on their faith to others.
Volunteers are needed to be in charge and provide the recommended crafts for each session. Please contact Cindi Scruggs to volunteer for the weeks you can help.
