Prof. Ray Pickett to Teach the Passion Narratives

During the season of Lent the Melanchthon Institute will offer a series on the passion narratives of the four canonical gospels. The study of one or more passion narratives is meaningful during the season leading to Holy Week. This series is presented in response to the high degree of interest in the passion of Christ generated by such films as The Gospel of John and The Passion directed by Mel Gibson. (See article in this issue.)

The Rev. Dr. Ray Pickett will lead the study. Dr. Pickett is Associate Professor of New Testament and Associate Academic Dean at the Lutheran Seminary of the Southwest (Austin). He is a graduate of Wartburg Theological Seminary and The University of Sheffield (England) which is one of the world's leading faculties in narrative studies of the Bible.

The study will take place on the first five Sundays of Lent beginning February 29 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
