Martin Luther's Handbook for the Christian Household

Taught by Timothy J. Wengert, Melanchthon Institute Resident Theologian and Professor of the History of Christianity at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia

Thursday, November 13, 2003, 7:30 p.m. 9:30 p.m.

Most Lutherans have heard about Luther's Small Catechism; many have read it; some even had to memorize it. Few appreciate that Luther wrote it for adults as a "teacher's guide" for the Christian Household. In one evening, Professor Wengert, whose translation of the Small Catechism is widely used throughout the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will help adults "taste the Catechism again for the first time." Here is an opportunity to sample the spiritual depths of this simple, yet profound book.

Registration is $20. Copies of A Contemporary Translation of Luther's Small Catechism: Study Edition will be available at the class for $6.50. The class will meet at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2353 Rice Boulevard, Houston. For more information or to register, contact Donna Pierce, Administrative Director of the Melanchthon Institute, at 713-523-2864, ext. 30.
