Jingle Bell Express

Christ the King will once again join the Christian Community Service Center in sponsoring "Jingle Bell Express" this Christmas season. CCSC has been spreading holiday cheer through the Jingle Bell Express program since 1980. This year, 3000 children will receive new toys and books, and each family will receive a holiday food package. Christ the King will conduct a food drive on Sunday, November 23, and we encourage all members to bring donate canned fruits and vegetables, which are a special need.

Christ the King will also sponsor a gift drive on Sunday, December 7, and we encourage all members to donate one new toy or book. Gifts need not be expensive ($10-$15 is appropriate), but they should be selected with the idea that this may be the only significant gift a child receives this year — one meaningful gift is preferable to five "stocking stuffers." Gifts are welcome for all ages, but gifts are especially needed this year for children ages 12-15.

The success of Jingle Bell Express depends on the help of hundreds of volunteers, who assist in sorting the donations, setting up the program, and distributing food and gifts to clients. The program will take place this year at Bellaire United Methodist Church, 4417 Bellaire. "Sort and Setup" will occur Tuesday, December 9 - Thursday, December 11, and Distribution will take place on Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13. All volunteers are welcome. This is a special opportunity, not only to give a Christmas gift to those in need, but to receive the warmth of Christmas yourself! For more information, please contact Russell and Stephanie Post.
