The Rev. Dr. Timothy J. Wengert is Professor of Reformation History at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, where he teaches courses in the Lutheran Confessions and Reformation history.
Professor Wengert co-edited the acclaimed translation of The Book of Concord: The Confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, which was released in 2000. His translation of Luther's Small Catechism from that volume is used widely throughout the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
He has written two books on Philipp Melanchthon and will be drafting a biography of Melanchthon while in Houston on sabbatical leave from LTSP. Professor Wengert is associate editor of the Lutheran Quarterly and is currently a member of the ELCA-United Methodist dialog team. He is familiar to many Lutherans because of his extensive teaching at synodical events throughout the country.
