Bread for the World Offering of Letters Workshop May 10

Bread for the World and Christ the King Lutheran Church invite you to attend an Offering of Letters Workshop. Churches of every denomination participate in Bread for the World's annual Offering of Letters. People of faith write letters to Congress in support of hunger-fighting legislation. They often place these letters in the offering plate during church services, prayerfully offering them to God as a gift of citizenship. This action teaches everyone in church that letters to Congress are a fit offering to God that active citizenship is an integral part of stewardship.

In 2003, Bread for the World's Offering of Letters campaign, Rise to the Challenge: End World Hunger, will seize on an extraordinary opportunity to make progress against world hunger. President Bush has proposed to dramatically increase development assistance to poor countries. If the president and Congress indeed follow up, this proposal would double the current level of U.S. support for programs that help hungry and poor people become self-sufficient. This funding would go only to countries that have demonstrated a commitment to use the money well. Join people of faith across the country in calling our nation to rise to the challenge and move toward ending world hunger.
