For those who want to know the basic concepts of charitable giving. Member Scott Swanson is a Certified Financial Planner who has worked in the financial services industry for 30 years. This is presented to create an awareness of the possibilities in conjunction with the church's Bridge to the Future mission program.

May 25 Contemporary Issues — Exploring Issues of Human Rights in the International Scene. Immigration Rights
Member Matthew Thompson of Tindall & Foster, will discuss some of the local programs that assist refugees and asylees in the United States, including background information of the legal standard of refugee or asylee status and how the US law subscribes to the UN standard for refugees. He will also provide information on the current changes to immigration matters relating to the restructuring of the INS, now the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services in the new Department of Homeland Security. Matthew has been an immigration attorney for seven years with Tindall & Foster. He is graduate of University of Houston Law Center and Southern Methodist University. He has worked with the INS and the Department of State in refugee resettlement.
